Matt Suess
Photographer
Photography isn’t just a job for Matt, it’s a lifelong passion that began at the young age of 12 when he first discovered the magic of his own black and white chemical darkroom. That spark ignited a full-time professional photography career that began in 1990 and continues to thrive today. For nearly two decades, Matt was a photojournalist based in New England. A true pioneer in the digital photography revolution, he was among the first to teach digital photography to photojournalists in the late 90s, helping to bring digital cameras to two different newspapers. His groundbreaking work earned him the prestigious 2003 New England Press Associations Photographer of the Year award for his exceptional contributions to the Cape Cod Times. Although his primary focus was photojournalism, Matt was always drawn to the artistry and creativity of capturing life’s special moments. His versatility led him to also photograph weddings, portraits, as well as corporate and commercial assignments. In 2006, Matt decided to venture West, leaving everything behind to focus solely on his passion for fine art landscape and nature photography. He has since become an esteemed educator, publisher, and luxury resort and architectural photographer. Matt teaches numerous field and classroom workshops throughout the year, along with offering online courses and occasional free webinars. His insightful and helpful videos for software companies such as Skylum and ON1 have reached thousands of photographers, making him a trusted and respected voice in the industry. Matt’s dedication to sharing his knowledge and experience with others is evident in his approachable and supportive style. He is a proud OM SYSTEM Ambassador for Olympus and a brand ambassador for NiSi, Fotopro, and Red River Paper. With his impressive background and unwavering passion for photography, Matt is a true leader in his field, inspiring and mentoring countless others to pursue their own creative dreams.
